Planning For The Worst
As we all plan for the worst, Grandma knows best. She has begun to make plans for what she wants and what is best. She's advised us that "if something is to happen to me, at least I won't be in pain anymore." Her words ring in my ears every day. We all hurt inside and grieve for what we are going to lose, but what we forget is that Grandma is waiting for relief.

The Little Things
When I was growing up, going to Nugget grocery shopping was the worst part of my day. I hated going up and down the isles of food and helping grandma pick out the best produce.
Today, Grandma and I went to Nugget and it was the best experience. Everyone at the store knows Grandma, they wave, hug her and chat. The local grocery store is a community in and of itself, a community that one can only understand the value of with age.

Looking Classy
Grandma's clothes always seem to be worn just perfectly...never wrinkled, never dirty, never anything short of perfection. The secret I've learned is simple: change after every meal.

He's Not a Mexican
Grandma decided to walk across the street to watch a home movie (since like all people of her generation - working the DVD player at home is near impossible). As she's walking across the street, her gaze focused on her shoes to avoid tripping on something. She notices Steve waiting on the curb for us and in surprise she says "My gosh his legs are white!" Well, I guess it's been determined, Steve is not a Mexican.

You're Never Too Old
Grandma was talking her afternoon lunch and woke up from her sleep in a coughing fit. I ran to her side and asked if she wanted a glass of water...her response "Yes, water is fine and some cookie." Always remember you are never too old for cookies in bed.

Grandma's Advice
Today, in a very serious tone, my Grandma look at me and said "Mija, if you want to make sure your chicken is brown, cook each piece by itself in the pan."

Grandpa's Religious Advise
God is like a bank and prayer is the currency. If you go to the bank and ask for money, you wont get anything back if you haven't put anything in.
Grandpa's advice: Always make sure you have more prayers in the bank than you'll ever need.
